Electric energy

Efficient technologies help us save electricity without a loss of comfort at all. All rooms are equipped with our latest minibar-technology, the so called „Fuzzy-logic“cooling systems save 30% energy.  Low-current lighting with LED-technology, key cards, that automatically switch of the energy, motion detectors, clock timers and dimmer switches for the exterior lighting.  An air management system adjusts the required heat and air change according to usage in the sauna.  
When purchasing electronic equipment such as TVs, refrigerators and machines for the kitchen and the laundry, only devices with a minimum current consumption are considered.  
The entire current consumption is controlled by a computer-based energy management system.  Continuous monitoring insures the control of consumption and costs.  


Generation of electricity

Our solar energy plant on the energy roof garden of the hotel produces 20.000 kilowatt hours solar energy every year.  The four wind turbines have an additional power of 2 kW.  Therewith almost all hotel rooms can be supplied with electricity.  A display panel at the reception desk illustrates the production of solar and wind power.  

The leafy energy roof can be visited by guests and interested groups.  

With our investment in the wind power station Ettenheim we produce about 70.000 kilowatt hours environmentally friendly wind power, which we can credit to our consumption.  2002 we shifted to green electricity, which we buy for a small surcharge from our power supply company EWS in Schönau.  With that surplus, they arrange for the installation of further regenerative current generators in the region.
